Good to know: redemption rules differ by state
Arkansas: tax-sale purchases made since July 1, 2023 can't be redeemed; owners can only redeem before the sale. Texas: after a tax-foreclosure sale the owner may redeem for 180 days (2 years for homestead or ag land) plus a 25-50% premium; mortgage (trustee) sales have no redemption, are sold as-is, and senior liens and taxes may survive. Louisiana: no redemption after a court-ordered foreclosure sale; adjudicated tax-title purchases need post-sale notices, a waiting period and usually a quiet-title suit. Oklahoma: county-owned tax-title land usually needs a quiet-title suit. Every sale can be postponed or cancelled, so confirm with the seller and your attorney before you buy.
